My name is Zariyah Hawkins, the daughter of Bettina Washington. I am currently a senior at Hueneme High School, where I am progressing towards one of my career goals to become a pediatric nurse. I will obtain a Medical Assistant certificate by graduation through Hueneme High’s Career Pathway Program. I participate in many sports and clubs. I am currently the president of our Black Student Union. I enjoy making a difference in my community by giving back and volunteering. Currently I volunteer at Dignity Health – St. John’s Regional Medical Center and the Ventura County Animal Shelter.

I am a proud participant in the Miss Debutante 2025 program sponsored by the 20th Century Onyx Club, Inc. The 20th Century Onyx Club, Inc. is a non- profit 501 (C) (3) civic and social organization founded in 1961 by Mrs. Ruth Gibson. The organization’s main purpose is to award graduating high school seniors with scholarships that will assist with educational costs. In the last sixty years plus, over $650,000 has been awarded to students of Ventura County. With your help more students will be able to receive assistance to further their education.
