To My Family and Friends,

My name is Ameerah Monette Phillips, the daughter of Felicia Baker. I am reaching out to ask for your support as I continue working toward my academic, athletic and career goals. I am working hard both in the classroom and on the field with the goal of pursuing a career in nursing/kinesiology. I am resilient, passionate about helping others, a listening ear, and actively challenging myself.

I attend Oxnard High School and am a multi-sport varsity athlete. I am on the flag football, soccer and track team. As a second-year captain of the Flag Football Team, it has been an honor stepping into a leadership role that has taught me the importance of responsibility, teamwork, communication and being a positive example for my teammates. In addition to my high school sports, I play competitively for 805 Only the Family (OTF) flag football and soccer for Oxnard United.

In my junior year, my peers selected me as their Junior Homecoming Princess. This experience will always be memorable as it allowed me to represent my school with pride and was thankful my peers seen something in me worth voting for.

I’m honored to participate in the 20th Century Onyx Club 2027 Debutante Ball for young African American women. I look forward to all the great experiences and opportunities lead by influential African American women who will teach us etiquette, grace, representation and being active in our communities. This is a non-profit organization.

On February 27, 2027, I will participate in the 2027 Debutante Ball in hopes of becoming the next Miss 2027 Debutante Ball Queen. Every contribution regardless of the amount is meaningful and makes a difference. There are several ways you can support: purchase a ticket to the ball, a commercial ad, donations, memorial tributes and scholarship circle. All donations are tax deductible. Please complete the online contribution form and return it to me no later than December 31, 2026.

I’m an active member of Pacific Coast Ministries in Oxnard, where Pastor Merrick Carter and First Lady Arlene Carter lead our church. I help as a student teacher in the children’s ministry and serve as an usher. I love giving back to my community by volunteering at places like the Naval Base, Ventura County food shares, MLK and Juneteenth celebrations, the Port of Hueneme Banana Festival, and with the Oxnard Stars Track Club as a student trainer. I’ve been volunteering for over six years, and it’s taught me that we’re only as strong as our community. I want to keep supporting mine, just like my parents serving this country.

I’m proud to be a scholar student athlete for the past three years, playing on the varsity Track, Basketball, and Flag Football teams at my school. I’m also a member of the Black Student Union (second year), National Honor Society (third year), and California Scholarship Federation (third year). Outside of school, I play for the 805 Only the Family Girls Flag Football club. This year, I’m honored to be part of the 20th Century Onyx Club 2026 Debutante Ball. The Onyx Club is a nonprofit community service organization made up of African American women in Ventura County. They teach responsibility, pride, manners, and personal growth to young African American women like me.

I’m reaching out to ask for your support to help me achieve my dream of being crowned “Miss Debutante 2026” on February 28, 2026. There are several ways you can help: by placing an ad in the souvenir program booklet, donating to the scholarship circle, making a memorial tribute, or purchasing a ticket to the Debutante Ball. All donations are tax-deductible and truly appreciated.
